HARD LIMITS
HARD LIMITS
Hard Limits —For more than a decade, Bil Brown has been the photographer in rooms that don’t want photographers—kink events, test shoots, hotel back rooms—capturing what happens up close: a mouth, a torso, rope, a hand, the grain of a room after midnight. Closer to the Japanese shi-shashin tradition of I-photography—the camera as first-person diary—than to detached photobooks, these images trade distance for intimacy, moving from high-contrast flash documentary into quiet color moments. In spaces where limits clarify rather than constrain, the work records only what was permitted: real, intimate, raw encounters seen without artifice.
